Bioidentical Hormones – Why Consider BHRT?
As we age, our natural levels of hormones decline which frequently creates an imbalance of hormones and leads to signs and symptoms which can affect our overall sense of wellbeing.
Depending on individual factors such as genetics, lifestyle, emotional stress, the presence of any medical illness, environmental toxin exposure, the hormonal decline may affect one or more of the following areas:
- Thyroid system
- Metabolic System
- Adrenal function
- Sexual function
The hormone imbalance can manifest as an exaggeration of what is commonly accepted as “part of aging” with the presence of any combination of the following signs and symptoms:
- Low energy, easy fatigability.
- Weight gain, especially in the middle section
- Low sex drive and low sexual stamina in men and women
- Depression and low overall drive
- Mood swings
- Insomnia, poor quality of sleep
- Inability to concentrate
- Decline in memory
- Hair loss in men and women
We prescribe healthy lifestyle alongside physiological bioidentical hormone optimization for your safety and for realistic results.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy- A Safe Approach
Aging is a natural phenomenon and hormone decline is part of aging. At Ross Medical Care, the goal of your BHRT and hormone pellet therapy is to achieve an age-appropriate natural balance of hormonal status and not to reproduce the hormonal levels of a 20-year-old.
What are Bioidentical Hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are derived from naturally occurring vegetable sources, such as yams and soy, and are formulated to be identical to our body’s naturally occurring hormones. After your symptom evaluation and reviewing your hormone levels, we discuss your hormone replacement therapy options with you. Your hormones will be prepared for YOU in the dose and form most suitable for you by an accredited compounding pharmacy.
How are Bioidentical hormones different from synthetic hormones?
Synthetic hormones are different from bio-identical hormones in many ways. Most of them are manufactured from animal sources and NOT identical to our natural hormones. They are never customized for you which makes it a little harder to achieve the right balance. There are many studies which have shown the synthetic hormones to cause an increase in the risk of several types of cancers and for cardiovascular disease.
What Does Your BHRT- Bio-identical Hormone Therapy Involve?
Your BHRT starts with an initial evaluation of your signs and symptoms, detailed medical and surgical history, saliva and blood hormone tests and review of your mammogram and pap smear results from your PCP. You are prescribed bio-identical hormone (injection or cremes) based on the evaluation and test results; your response is measured at your follow up visit in 8-12 weeks. Your hormone dose is adjusted if needed based on your response. We typically insert pellets at your second visit after determining your optimum hormone replacement dose. Regular follow-up visits and hormone level evaluations are recommended for safe and effective bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
Bio-identical Hormone Pellet Therapy- Why Pellets?
Pellets consist of bio-identical estradiol or testosterone. Data supports that pellets deliver consistent, healthy levels of hormones for 3-5 months in women and 4-6 months in men. Hormone pellet therapy avoids the fluctuations, or ups and downs, of hormone levels seen with every other method of delivery. Pellets are inserted under the skin in a 15 minute in-office procedure, rather painlessly and with no downtime.
What is the Cost Of Bio-identical Pellet Hormone Therapy ?
Pellet Therapy costs range from $400-$650.
